With front passenger airbag fitted, this may be unsafe and is one of the circumstances according to NHTSA which justifies switching off/disabiling the front passenger airbag when a child is in front. With the Sonata, you can do just that - Switch Off the airbag when you need to and enable it again with just the turn of a switch. *#

Dual depowered SRS airbag is standard and depowered in line with USA standard for reducing severity of impact caused to occupants when airbag(s) inflates.

Anti-lock brakes (ABS) automatically provide the driver control during heavy braking to prevent wheel lockup while Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) intelligently redistributes the braking force to the wheels depending on the weight load balance on occupants and luggage.

For added safety, Sonata's seatbelt are fitted with pretensioners that work in unison with airbag to restrain front seat occupants on collision. In addition the Sonata features one additional feature not found in most other standard cars - buckle pretensioner. The buckle pretensioner provides additional safety margin and works together with seatbelt pretensioner.
